Our Y2 pupils went for a learning walk around Ebchester village yesterday as part of their Geography work. There were lots of lovely things to see such as the Community Centre, the Village Store and, of course, St Ebba's Church. What a lovely place Ebchester is!
Design and Technology
This half term, Year 2 have been working hard on their DT project. We have been learning about the mechanisms, sliders and levers. Firstly, children investigated sliders and levers in children's books. Once they have a good understanding of how they worked, children then made their own examples of both a slider and lever. As you can see in the photographs below, we had some great car and under the sea pictures.
Once children had made their examples, they designed their own moving parts picture. As a class, we decided to use the theme of Christmas for their designs and then came up with a design criteria, which involved children thinking about how their product would be successful. We are looking forward to making our final products, and will share these when they have been finished.
